Places to Visit in the Philippines

The Philippines has 7,107 islands. There’s plenty of tourist attractions ranging from mountains, lakes, and malls! Here’s some that I have personally visited and would recommend you going if you ever decide to visit this beautiful country.

1. Chocolate Hills (Tsokolateng Burol)

Chocolate on chocolate on chocolate <3 There are more than 1,000 of these hills located in Bohol. They are covered in grass but during the dry season it turns green, hence the name! It was a breathtaking sight to see but I was also winded by the time we got to the top because you have to climb 215 steps.

2. Palawan

Palawan is an island and the country’s largest province. It’s kind of like the Florida of the Philippines. Some fun things to do here: scuba diving/snorkeling, rappelling, and boat-riding.

3. Baguio

One of the few places in the Philippines that actually gets cold during the winter. It’s part of the Mountain Province. Some fun things to do: ziplining, hiking, and sight-seeing.

4. Cebu

One of the more historical places of our country. Magellan, the explorer, landed here and tried to convert everyone into Christianity. Our local hero, Lapu-lapu (like the fish) fought Magellan and killed him. Our bolos (machetes) managed to defeat their guns!

5. Villa Escudero

6. Taal Lake

A lake within a volcano within a lake within an island. Lake/island-ception?

7. Rizal Park

Another historical place in the Philippines. This park is dedicated to Jose Rizal, the country’s national hero because he was executed here. His death sparked the Philippine Revolution against Spain, leading to the country’s independence. It’s also known as Luneta Park or Bagumbayan (New Country). You can go on horse-drawn carriage rides, watch a dancing fountain, have a picnic, or even just walk around.
