Finding our way back home: Where is your family from?
The historians asked Bayanihan's Filipino members to share where in the Philippines their families are from. Based on the data submitted so far here are some interesting things we've found out about our family histories. Jessica Lomibao and Francis Landoy are the only Visayans, with both coming from the island of Iloilo. Meanwhile, Cyril Lapineg is the only member from the southern island of Mindanao.
The rest of Bayanihan comes from the topmost island of Luzon. In the northern half of Luzon, Tina Busch, Christine Dancel and Robert Daradar are all from Ilocos Norte, while Tin Tin San Ramon and Patrizia Rin can trace their roots to Tarlac in Pampanga. A lot of the club is from Metro Manila, which isn't surprising considering how big the city is. Specifically, we were able to find out that Jessica Lomibao's family was from Marikina while Zach Vandenberg's grandmother was from Pasig City.
Just to the south of Metro Manila, Laguna had the most representation out of all the provinces. Jason Trovela, Matt Gozun, Sydney Valero, Angela Masajo, Lyka Dominguez, Arvin Rubio and Gina Rubio could all trace their roots here, with the Rubios and Sydney both originating from the town of Los Banos. To the south, in Batangas, Angela Masajo and Matt Gozun were shown to have the town of Tanauan in common.
In Bicol, Allen Samson and Riane Taday were found to be from the adjacent towns of Nabua and Iriga in Camarines Sur, while Joana Hidalgo had family in Camarines Norte.
